I'm always at least three steps behind whatever is hip in technology. Given how quickly it all changes it's probably a good thing. I'll bet that I end up saving myself lots of money by not being an "early adapter".
I've had my ipod for a few years. It's big, it's clunky, it's heavy, I have to strap it to my body like a saggy boob when I work out...but I love it nonetheless. Anyway, I've been in love with the NPR podcasts and stumbled onto a super groovy one. It's called PLAYBACK - it's only for podcast (not broadcast). You won't hear this on the radio. NPR flashes back 25 years and sums up - for example - January 1982. It's amazing to hear this little snippets of both world news and American culture. It's amazing both how much and how little the world has changed in 25 years. You can download it into your computer and listen to it without an ipod. It's worth the time.
